Whenever Barcelona and Real Madrid met in the recent history the biggest drama set up between both the teams is Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo.
Christiano Ronaldo is the world’s highest paid and most expensive player, Real signed them for a gigantic 131$ million. Before that he was signed by the English club Manchester United from Sporting Lisbon (Portugal) as an 18 year old.
Messi and Ronaldo are the world’s highest paid football professionals in the world.
Messi has a value of over 400$ million as reported and he was even offered this sum of money from the British money oriented club Manchester City which he refused to have a star studded stay at FC Barcelona. The Argentinean boy left Newell’s Old Boys for going to Barcelona at a small age of 13, when the club agreed paying the fees for the treatment of a growth hormone deficiency which threatened to lower his progress.
Both of the players have won the FIFA World Player of the Year award once, and also have scored in a Champions League final.
Over the last five seasons, both of the players have scored almost a similar number of goals for their clubs. Ronaldo has moved more into a centre forward position as his career has progressed where he has scored a lot of goals, while Messi is now used by Pep Guardiola as a utility player where he hurts most of the teams. Both of these players used to play more as the central link players but coaches like Sir Alex Ferguson, Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola utilised them in the best possible way by playing them in the final third where they can rip the defense apart of any team in this world.
Messi has always played a vital role in the game exerting his influence over every other opponent while Ronaldo has always been accused of losing his temper quickly and making his own runs and just disappearing in the high profile games where it really matters. This is a very difficult assessment but Messi playing more as a team-man finishes a bit above Ronaldo.
But Ronaldo can bring his game to another level by just maturing a bit and playing as a team player.
