One of the toughest bad habits to quit on; is smoking cigarettes. The thing about smoking is that its not a physiological dependence in fact its a psychological dependance. Smokers think that their body is addicted to nicotine, the truth is the dependence lies in their brain. To quit smoking one has to fight the inner self.
If you are already thinking about quitting smoking, here are 5 tips to help you:
Keep your self busy:
this is one of the easiest thing to do. Play some games with the kids, go for a jog, walk your dog or watch a movie. The idea is to keep your brain busy enough so that you don’t think about cigarettes.
Out of sight out of mind:
be sure to put away all those ash trays, cigarettes, lighters and filters, any thing that can remind of smoking should be out of sight. If you follow this rule the chances of you smoking are very low.
Avoid smoker’s company:
most smokers are social smokers, this means that when they are around people who share their bad habit they tend to light up a fag. If you really want to quit smoking, stay away from your smoker friends for at least a month.
Candies and Gum:
when you feel like smoking chew a gum or have a hard candy, in most smokers the urge provokes in periodic manner often after a certain interval. Its best to kill the urge with a gum. Believe it or not it works.
Save some $:
the best motivation comes from money. Think about how much you can save if you quit smoking. Treat your self with a gadget or a favorite perfume once your save six months worth of smoking money. Keep a Piggy Bank near your bed and save money you would other wise spend on cigarette packs. You will be amazed at what you will save in six months.
