Al-Qaeda Strikes Outside the Presidential Palace in Yemen

No less than 26 people were reported killed after a suicide car attack outside a presidential palace in Yemen’s southern Hadramawt province. The terror attack that occurred in the city of Mukalla  targeted members of the elite Republican Guard.

The attack happened at a significant time as it came only hours after Yemen’s new President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi was sworn in as the country’s new President. He has replaced Ali Abdullah Saleh, who resigned as a result of the uprising that started against his regime last year.

Mr. Hadi at a number of forums has proclaimed to fight al-Qaeda tooth and nail till the terrorist outfit is driven out of his country. Earlier, in a message to his people he had said that the fight against al-Qaeda was a ‘national and religious duty.’
