Buzz Bummer: Dutch Parliament to Ban the Sale of Hash

There are very few countries in the world where ‘soft drugs’ such as hashish are not frowned about by the law enforcement authorities – the Netherlands being one of them. However, it seems that this liberal tolerance is soon about to come to an end with the Dutch Parliament considering to ban ‘Hashish’.

The move is largely political rather than a result of a sudden ‘moral’ awakening on the issue. The Dutch government feels that by allowing hashish to sell legally, it is assisting foreign, criminal organizations at an unconscious level.

It is believed that the new law would disallow the sale of foreign-cultivated hashish, but would continue the sale of indigenously planted Dutch cannabis.
