Fashion houses are increasingly trying to break-away from the stereo-types associated with perceived beauty by reaching out to a wider market encompassing men and women who do not fit into the conventional description of ‘hot’. Thus, we now see more and more advertisements sporting slogans that emphasize ‘Everyone is beautiful’.
However, there seem to be fashion labels that although overtly claim to ‘believe’ that they’re on-board with the idea of universal beauty, but they do not seem to understand its spirit.
Levis recently came up with an advertisement that read, ‘Hotness comes in all shapes and sizes’. Great message – except for one glaring problem: all the models in the advert were virtually the same shape and size!
Here’s a little word of advise for Levis: research well before starting a campaign because just in case you didn’t know all the women in the world are not Size 2!
